Born Cedric Coleman in Memphis, TN Frayser Boy got his rap career started when he signed to Three Six Mafia’s Hypnotized Mind record label. He began working with label heads DJ Paul and Juicy J in the capacity of tour staff. He got their attention after being prompted by Juicy J to freestyle. That lead to him signing and releasing his debut album “Gone on That Bay” in 2003. In 2005 came his second album “Me Bein’ Me” as well as his crowning achievement of being honored for his songwriting with an Academy Award. He became one of the first rap artist ever and since to win an Oscar for the primary single, ‘Hard Out For A Pimp’ from the critically acclaimed movie Hustle and Flow. His last major release to date is “Da Key”. In 2009 he officially signed with Money By Da Pound Records to continue where he left off. Lead single ‘I Go Off’ featuring Waka Flocka Flame and labelmate Dirty Mike is sure to solidify his position as a lyricist and southern storyteller.
